Who the Indigo card is for
Indigo targets consumers who have had serious credit setbacks — charge-offs, collections or a past bankruptcy — and want to rebuild without a security deposit. If you can afford a deposit, a low-fee secured card may cost less; if you can't, Indigo provides an unsecured path.
Indigo fees and costs
Indigo offers typically include an annual fee, a possible monthly fee after the first year, a high variable APR and optional fee-based services. Some Indigo offers have carried a lower foreign transaction fee than other Concora cards. See the rates and fees page for how each charge works.
Getting an Indigo card after bankruptcy
A discharged bankruptcy stays on your credit report for up to 10 years (Chapter 7) or 7 years (Chapter 13), but its impact fades as you add positive history. Indigo has historically considered applicants with a prior bankruptcy, provided it is discharged. An active bankruptcy case will generally result in a decline.
After a bankruptcy, the first new account is the hardest to get and the most valuable to keep perfect. One on-time payment history line, reported every month, starts to dilute the old negatives faster than most people expect.
A rebuilding plan with Indigo
- Confirm your bankruptcy shows as discharged and that included debts show a $0 balance on all three reports.
- Prequalify for Indigo with a soft pull.
- After approval, set autopay and pay off the opening fee.
- Charge less than 10% of the limit each month and pay in full.
- Re-evaluate in 12 months — many people qualify for lower-cost products by then.
